Discovering Tango Events
Tanguear's event section is the heart of the app. It offers several ways to find the perfect milonga, workshop, or festival — whether it is tonight, next week, or across the world.
Nearby events
The default view shows events near your location. Tanguear uses the city you have set in your preferences to display upcoming events in your area. The page title shows your current location — for example, "Upcoming events in Buenos Aires".
You can scroll through the list or pull down to refresh. Events load in pages of 10, with a "load more" option at the bottom.
The weekly calendar
Switch to the calendar view to see the entire week at a glance. Each day with events is marked with a dot. Tap on a day to see all the events scheduled for that date.
The calendar highlights today in a distinct colour and lets you navigate between weeks. It is the fastest way to plan your tango week.
Searching and filtering
Use the search bar to find events by name or tag. You can also filter by:
- Type — milonga, festival, class, concert, workshop, performance
- Tags — a style, a teacher, or a theme
- Free events — toggle to see only events with no entry fee
Favourite events
Tap the heart icon on any event to add it to your Favourites. Favouriting an event does two things:
- Saves the event for easy access later
- Triggers a notification — if you have enabled marketing notifications, you will receive a reminder (including by email) before the event takes place, so you never miss a milonga you care about
Your favourites are also synced with the Daily Poll — if the event appears in today's poll, your vote is cast automatically.
Sponsored events
Some events are highlighted as sponsored. These are events that organisers have chosen to promote more widely across the community.
Past events
Browse events that have already taken place. This is useful for discovering organisers and venues you might not have heard of, reading reviews, and seeing who attended.
Event details
Tap any event to see the full card: name, date, time, venue, description, photos, video, schedule, price, guests, and reviews from other attendees.
