Finding a Dance Partner
Going to a workshop or a milonga and hoping to find the right partner? Tanguear has a partner matching system that lets you find someone to dance with at a specific event — before you even arrive.
How partner requests work
A partner request is tied to a specific event schedule. It is not a general connection — it is a focused request that says: "I am going to this event and I am looking for a dance partner."
Creating a partner request
- Open the event schedule you plan to attend
- Tap Find a Partner
- Your dance profile is shared automatically: whether you lead or follow, your proficiency level, and when you started dancing
Other tangueros who see your request can view your dance profile and decide if you are a good match.
Responding to a request
When you see a partner request from someone attending the same event:
- View their dance profile (leader/follower, level, experience)
- Send a response with a message introducing yourself
- The person who created the request reviews your response and accepts or rejects
Getting matched
When someone accepts your response, you are matched. Both of you know you will have a dance partner at the event.
Compatibility
The system considers dance role compatibility. If you are a leader, you will see requests from followers, and vice versa. If you dance both roles, you see all requests.
Reminders
If your request is still unmatched as the event approaches, Tanguear sends you a reminder to check for new responses.
After the event
Once the event date passes, unmatched requests expire automatically. Matched requests are part of your event history.
