Messaging on Tanguear

Tanguear includes a full messaging system so you can have private conversations with friends, dance partners, and fellow tangueros.

Direct messages

To send a message to someone, go to their profile and tap Message. This opens a private conversation visible only to the two of you.

You can send text messages, and the conversation updates in real time — you will see when a message has been delivered and when the other person is typing.

Group conversations

Tanguear also supports group conversations. These are useful for coordinating with a group of friends before an event, organising a trip to a festival, or staying in touch with your school community.

Notifications for messages

When you receive a new message, you will get a notification on your phone (if you have enabled notifications). The app also shows an unread message badge on the messages icon.

Archiving conversations

If you want to keep your inbox tidy, you can archive a conversation. Archived conversations are not deleted — they are simply moved out of your main inbox and can be retrieved at any time.

Blocking

If someone sends unwanted messages, you can block them. Blocked users can no longer message you or see your profile activity.
