Refunds, Fees, and Coupons

This guide explains how cancellations, pricing, and promotions work on Tanguear.


Cancellations and refunds

When can a ticket be cancelled?

A ticket can be cancelled if:

  • The ticket status is still valid (not already used)
  • The attendee has not yet checked in at the event

How the refund works

  1. The attendee taps Cancel Ticket from their ticket page
  2. They can optionally provide a reason
  3. Tanguear processes a partial refund — the ticket price is refunded, but fees are not
  4. The ticket status changes to cancelled
  5. If the ticket was in Apple Wallet or Google Wallet, it is automatically removed

This policy protects both the organiser and the platform from payment processing costs.


Fees and taxes

What the attendee pays

The price you set on your schedule is the base price including VAT. On top of this, the attendee sees:

  • Service fee — a small percentage charged by Tanguear
  • Transaction fee — the card processing fee charged by Stripe

These fees are shown clearly in the cart before checkout. There are no hidden charges.

What the organiser receives

You receive the ticket price minus the Tanguear platform commission. The commission covers payment processing, ticket generation, and platform maintenance.

Payments are transferred to your Stripe account according to Stripe's standard payout schedule (typically within a few business days).

Taxes

Tanguear calculates VAT automatically. The VAT is included in the price you set — so if you set 10 EUR and the VAT rate is 22%, the breakdown is approximately 8.20 EUR (net) + 1.80 EUR (VAT).


Coupons and promotions

You can create coupon codes that attendees enter in their cart to receive a percentage discount.

Coupons are a great way to:

  • Reward loyal attendees
  • Promote a new event
  • Offer early-bird pricing
  • Thank members of your school or organisation

Selling beyond tickets

Tanguear's checkout also supports:

  • Memberships — sell memberships to your school or organisation, with optional recurring subscriptions
  • Products — list tango-related products (shoes, clothing, accessories) in the marketplace with inventory tracking and product variants

All items use the same secure cart and checkout flow.
