Setting Up Your Profile

Your profile is your identity inside the Tanguear community. It tells other tangueros who you are, what your dance background is, and how to connect with you.

What your profile includes

  • Name and photo — your public identity
  • Role — Dancer, Teacher, Musician, Musicalizador, or Organization
  • Short bio — a few words about yourself and your tango journey
  • Dance preferences — the styles you enjoy, the music you love
  • Location — the city or region where you are based

Editing your profile

Tap the profile icon at the bottom of the screen to open your profile page. Then tap Edit to update any of your information.

You can change your photo, update your bio, add or remove roles, and adjust your preferences at any time.

Your public profile

When another tanguero searches for you or visits your profile, they see a version tailored to what you have chosen to share. You control what is visible through your privacy settings (covered in a dedicated guide).

Profile types in detail

Dancer profile

A dancer profile focuses on your dance background — the styles you practice (tango, vals, milonga), how long you have been dancing, and the type of partner you enjoy dancing with.

Teacher profile

If you teach, your profile can include your specialties, the level of students you work with, and links to your classes or school.

Musician / Musicalizador profile

Musicians and DJs can share their repertoire, the orchestras they play in, and upcoming performances.

Organization profile

Organizers and schools have a dedicated profile that includes their venue, event calendar, and member list.

Discovering other profiles

Tanguear includes a profile discovery feature — a way to browse other tangueros in your area. Swipe through profiles, see who dances near you, and send a friend request or a dance partner request directly from their profile page.
