Step-by-Step: Creating Your First Event
This guide walks you through the event creation wizard in Tanguear. If you have not read the guide on Events, Schedules, and Recurrences yet, we recommend starting there — it explains the concepts you will use here.
Step 1 — Start the event wizard
Open the app and go to the Events section. If you have activated your publisher account (Settings > Publisher Preferences), you will see a Create Event button in the bottom navigation bar. Tap it to open the event wizard.
Step 2 — Fill in the event details
Enter the basic information about your event:
- Title — the name of your event (keep it short and clear)
- Description — a fuller explanation of what attendees can expect (up to 1,000 characters)
- Festival — toggle this on if your event is a multi-day festival
- Tags — add keywords that help people find your event (e.g., "milonga", "vals", "outdoor")
Step 3 — Add optional media
You can enrich your event with:
- Main image — the cover photo that appears in the event list
- Video — a promotional video from YouTube or Pexels
- Sponsored video — a featured video that appears prominently
- Attachment — a PDF, document, or image with additional information (e.g., a programme or flyer)
- External link — a link to your website or registration page
- Guests — special guests or performers appearing at the event
Step 4 — Add at least one Schedule
Tap Add Schedule to define when and where the event takes place.
Details:
- Type — choose from Milonga, Festival, Class, Workshop, Concert, Performance, or others
- Title — defaults to the event title, but you can customise it for each schedule
- Description — defaults to the event description, but you can add schedule-specific details
Date and time:
- Start date and time — when this schedule begins
- End date and time — when it finishes (must be after the start)
Location:
- Venue name — the name of the place (e.g., "Salón Canning")
- Address — start typing and Tanguear will suggest addresses. The city, country, and map coordinates are filled in automatically
Pricing:
- Price — the entry fee (from 0 to 300). Set to 0 for free events
- Accept donations — if the event is free, you can enable a donation option so attendees can contribute voluntarily
Capacity:
- Maximum capacity — the number of people the venue can hold. Set to 0 for unlimited
Extra for each schedule:
- Image — a photo specific to this schedule
- Video — a video specific to this schedule
- Attachment — a document specific to this schedule
- Tags — schedule-specific keywords
- Guests — specific performers or teachers for this schedule
Step 5 — Set up recurrence (optional)
If this schedule repeats regularly, expand the Recurrence section:
- Recurrence type — Never (default), Daily, Weekly, Monthly, or Yearly
- Repeat every — how many intervals between each occurrence (e.g., every 1 week, every 2 weeks)
- End date — the last date the recurrence should generate
Tanguear automatically creates all the future dates. You can adjust the price of individual dates later.
Step 6 — Add more Schedules (if needed)
For multi-day events or festivals, repeat Steps 4 and 5 to add additional schedules. There is no limit.
Step 7 — Review and publish
Once you are satisfied, review your event and tap Publish. Your event is now visible to the Tanguear community.
Managing your events after publication
After publishing, you can return to your event at any time to:
- Edit the title, description, media, or any schedule details
- Add or remove schedules — for example, adding a last-minute workshop to a festival
- Update pricing — adjust the base price or override the price for specific recurrence dates
- Manage guests — add or remove performers from individual schedules
