The Teacher Profile
If you teach tango — whether in a formal academy, a community centre, or as a travelling maestro — the Teacher profile lets you showcase your expertise and connect with students on Tanguear.
The Teacher profile extends the Tanguero profile, meaning you keep all the dance features (partner requests, event attendance, ratings) while gaining additional teaching-specific tools.
What the Teacher profile adds
On top of everything a Dancer can do, the Teacher profile includes:
Tango styles
Select the styles you teach: salon, milonguero, nuevo, vals, milonga, stage tango, and more. Students browsing your profile can immediately see if your style matches what they are looking for.
Teaching levels
Indicate which student levels you work with: beginner, intermediate, advanced, or all of them. This helps students find a teacher appropriate for their stage.
Specific techniques
Highlight your specialisations — for example, close embrace, open embrace, musicality, floor craft, choreography, or improvisation.
Class types
Tell the community what kinds of classes you offer: group classes, private lessons, workshops, practicas, or intensive courses.
Related dance disciplines
If you also teach other disciplines connected to tango (such as contemporary dance, ballet, or body awareness), you can list them here.
Travel and festival availability
Toggle on Available for travel and Available for festivals if you are open to teaching at events outside your home city. Organisers searching for guest teachers will be able to find you.
Creating and managing a school
One of the most important Teacher features is the ability to create a school. A school on Tanguear is a dedicated space for your teaching community:
- Give your school a name, logo, and description
- Build a member list — students can request to join
- Send broadcast messages to all members
- Publish events linked to the school — your classes and workshops will appear in your school's profile
Students who join your school see your events highlighted in their feed and receive your updates directly.
How Teachers interact with other roles

| An Organization invites you | You can be featured as a guest teacher at their events |
| A Musician performs at your event | They appear as a guest in your event schedule |

Tips for a great Teacher profile
- List all your styles and techniques — students filter by these when searching.
- Set your teaching levels — it prevents mismatched expectations.
- Create your school early — even if it is small, it gives your students a home on Tanguear.
- Mark yourself as available for travel — festival organisers actively look for travelling teachers.
